It happens most of the time that you are installing something or downloading in your computer which may take more 2 -3 hours, and you have some other work to do in the meantime and you are going away from computer.In this situation you can schedule a time for computer to shutdown automatically to save power.Because all the softwares and download managers have estimated time remaining option.So you can have idea on how much time it is going to take.
Shutdown the computer automatically on the scheduled time can be done in various ways, e.g. by creating a batch file and put it in task scheduler or use any third party software.
